Q&A: Navigating challenging behaviours in ECE

Sometimes in ECE, there can be patterns in children’s behaviour that challenge us in ways that are exhausting. Even with the best intentions, love, team and parent collaboration in the world, we can’t seem to make an impact for the child.

About the presenters

Lisa Addy

I started my journey in the education sector when my eldest started school as a parent help. From there I was able to secure a role as a TA, initially working 1-1 with a particular child before taking a foundation degree which enabled me to run the classroom when the teacher was away. Once in NZ  I took a role working in ECE . As part of my time in ECE I took the Incredible Years Teacher course, for me this allowed me to be the teacher I wanted to be. I was then given the opportunity to train to deliver the IY course, which is what I now do as almost my full time role. I have now been delivering the Teacher course the Autism course and now the Beginning course for about 6 years.  My highlight is knowing that through the course we are saving teachers and giving children better experiences.
