Hands up if tidy up time in your setting looks less like a calm, purposeful transition — and more like a small, cheerful hurricane? You're not alone.

For many early childhood educators, tidy up time is one of the trickiest parts of the day. Children disengage, resist, melt down, or simply disappear. And yet, when approached thoughtfully, tidy up time holds extraordinary potential — not just for a tidier room, but for building independence, fostering a sense of ownership, and creating a genuine culture of care within your environment.

In this inspiring session, Stephanie Bennett from The Curiosity Approach invites you to rethink tidy up time from the ground up.

Drawing on the principles of The Curiosity Approach — slowing down, simplifying, and creating environments that children truly connect with — Stephanie will explore how the way we set up, curate, and care for our spaces directly impacts how children (and adults!) feel when it's time to restore them.

What will you learn?

What we'll explore together:

  • Why tidy up time so often becomes a battleground — and what's really going on for children
  • How your environment design influences children's relationship with tidying
  • The power of less: how simplifying your space transforms the tidy up experience
  • Practical, Curiosity Approach-inspired strategies for making tidy up time calm, connected, and even joyful
  • How to cultivate a culture where children genuinely care for and take pride in their environment

This isn't about perfect rows of baskets or colour-coded shelves. It's about helping children develop a real and meaningful relationship with their space — one that makes caring for it feel natural, not forced.

What others said about this webinar:

This was great. I loved the examples and points on how we see children as capable but then we take away their decision making with something as simple as coat wearing.
