Calling all infant and toddler educators…

Respectful care is at the heart of early childhood education, especially when working with our youngest learners. But what does it truly mean to be respectful? Do we fully understand the roots of this philosophy, or are we unknowingly practicing misconceptions?

Too often, we hear statements like:
❌ “We do RIE here, so we don’t pick up children when they are crying.”
❌ “If you pick him up, he’ll get used to it.”
❌ “She’s just trying to get your attention—ignore her.”

These are NOT examples of Magda Gerber’s RIE® Educaring approach. It’s time to clear up the confusion and discover the authentic principles of respectful educare.

Wow Wow Wow what an amazing time I have just experienced. Elena is such a mesmerising storyteller whose passion is infectious and almost dare I say it spiritual. I have worked with infants and toddlers in a Pikler Rie inspired centre for all my career except for the last 2.3 years.

Love Elenar's voice as she really demonstrates setting the tone of quiet, slow and peacefulness we can practice using RIE.
Great imagery like seeing the amount of movements an infant will make before walking, the videos are great too.
— JENNY
Elena has such a wealth of knowledge around Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerba's approaches to infant education and care.
I was truly inspired and was able to take many points away and implement them in my teaching practice.
